Nsw police pledge to tackle burglary rate
Police have revealed a burglary rate of 1.34 per 1,000 adults in Sydney, compared to 6.2 per 1,000 in Melbourne and 2.9 per 1,000 in Queensland.
One in eight is a burglary victim, according to Crime & Corruption Commission figures obtained by news.com.au
The bureau released data on the latest figures after it reported 1,104 burglaries were recorded in Australia in 2011, a rise of 19.8 per cent from 2010.
The commission chairman Michael Denniss said the figures were “surprising” given a decade ago the number of crime incidents in Victoria remained flat.
“I have a sense of déjà vu,” Denniss said.
“They’ve come back in quite a number of years where we were at the peak of crime rates.”
Denniss said the crime rate across the country was a much lower figure than when the commission began recording crime incidents in 1991.
He said the rise in numbers showed the police were seeing a marked increase in crime.
But he said it was still too soon to know how much the new figures mean the burglary rate had improved in this time.
“I think there’s definitely been an increase in the amount of time that that rate of property crime has been there, but I can’t really say at the moment that it’s made much of a difference,” he said.
“And if we don’t have further increases over the next few years, I’m not sure how much of this will change.”
In response to questions from the ABC, a Police Minister said the burglary rate was down, but said there were still major crime카지노 사이트 issues.
Assistant Commissioner Graham Ashton said the national burglary rate had remained stable since January 2010, and that a similar drop of 17.1 per cent in the national burglary rate reported by police in Western Australia.
”There are several areas withi카지노 사이트n Victoria where we’re facing significant problems but I don’t think we’ve seen a significant rise in crime in the capital in some of these areas,” he said.
“I’m pleased we’ve seen a decline in the national burglary rate in the past couple of years.”
Assistant Commissioner Ashton said police were also on the trail of burglaries and other offences related to drug dealing.
”There’s a l바카라사이트ot of focus on money laundering from the drug trade, but there’s also much more drug trafficking activity happening in Melbourne,” he sai
